I know that some people might look at only losing 25 pounds over two years as slow-progress. However, The Studio is not about fad diets or quick fixes, they are about changing lives through diet and exercise that fits each person’s “why”. They encouraged a lifelong change through physical activity that fit me and my goals. I know that I am at the beginning of my journey to a long, happy, healthy, lifestyle, and I owe it to a life changing meeting and a great relationship with awesome people at The Studio.

A few years ago, I decided that maybe enough was enough. My employer had begun working with The Studio. I had recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and my neurologist told me “one of the most important things, almost more important than medicine, is having a strong body.

The Studio helped me dig deep and find myself. We went so far beyond push-ups and lunges. They helped me find my inner reasons “why.” I’ll be the first to tell you, I’m not an “I love working out” kind of girl… but I came to crave the way it made my body and mind feel after a session.

The Studio has changed my life. They have changed my perspective on health and well-being. It has been a journey, and my journey continues. Those feelings of self-loathing still pop up now and again, but I have made such progress and have found a deep appreciation for the strength I’ve gained! Trust me when I say that you will be safe, cared for, and find a sense of belonging that you never knew you could achieve through every interaction you’ll have with The Studio!

About a year ago I was physically disabled for a period of a few months; I ended up having to have back surgery. After surgery I moved a little slower, I put on a little more weight but I was up right and walking. I have to say that I am so thankful to just be walking after surgery because before I could not do so. I had to learn that after surgery I was not going to be 100%, I was physically limited. Even a year later, I still have some pain some days. Even all that being said I was still ready! I wanted to fill better; surgery was only a part of it.

The day that I met with The Studio, I had actually had been limping from back pain. I shared with the trainer my goals. I expressed that this was the one area of my life that was a little out of balance and I wanted to change. We had about 15 minutes after chatting so we went into the fitness room to do some stretches. I was game, even though I was a little sore and still limping. He had me do a few simple stretches and then asked me to walk. I stood up and walked, without limping and without pain. That is all it took to start me on my path to physical wellness. The Studio had taught me that I needed to do the right stretches, start small to gain balance. I am excited to share that with The Stuidio’s help, that is exactly what I have been doing. Because of his help with gaining physical wellness I will win a small victory with walking in a 5k in the next couple of weeks.

Stacie’s enthusiasm for wellness is absolutely and always contagious! Her knowledge about the topic, including the latest in continuing research on nutrition, exercise, stress management – and all of the other myriad components of “wellness” – is unfailingly vast. My health and my outlook have benefited beyond measure from Stacie’s personal commitment to sharing her knowledge in her accessible and energizing presentations. Stacie makes this clear: A healthier you is a goal that is both exciting and attainable.

Stacie VanLuven is a wonderful speaker. She captures the audience from the first word because she does not speak from a page, she speaks from the heart. Stacie not only educates, but she motivates and inspires people to live healthier lives. Stacie lives and breathes what she speaks.

Stacie has a way of sharing her excitement of being healthy with others by explaining how your body works and why you need to change your patterns of thinking to become healthy. When working with a new group, I enjoyed her ability to tell you many interesting facts that perked your interest in what you were eating, and then her encouragement to “take a step” towards health.

After several years of group exercise (spinning) classes I was feeling that I had reached a wall. About this same time I attended a nutrition class given by The Studio. I was impressed and decided I was curious to learn more about strength training. I went from hoping to properly lift weights to having learned so much more. During the very personalized training sessions they have coached me on many different aspects of a healthy living style including nutrition, flexibility, balance, posture and, oh yea, proper form for lifting weights. The experience is always motivational and I look forward to each and every one of my training sessions. My initial expectations have been far exceeded.
